NIPPON STRAW Co., Ltd. was founded in 1955 as Sanyo Paper Packs Kk and commenced business manufacturing and selling milk taps. Since then, in order to meet the needs of our customers, we have expanded our business into the manufacture and sale of paper cups, plastic containers and plastic straws. Currently, our main field of business is manufacturing and selling telescopic straws and single straws. We also buy and sell a range of drinking cups, food containers and packaging materials.

  Against the backdrop of environmental problems such as plastic waste that has not been properly disposed of, marine pollution caused by microplastics, and increased carbon dioxide emissions from plastic production and incineration, worldwide efforts are underway to eliminate the use of single-use plastics. In Japan, the Act on Promotion of Resource Circulation for Plastics came into effect in April 2022, which calls for actions to reduce plastic waste emissions and promote recycling, etc.

  Against this backdrop, in 2010, ahead of other manufacturers, we began manufacturing and selling telescopic straws made of PLA (polylactic acid, plant-based plastics) as products with a low environmental impact. We now have a variety of straws made of marine biodegradable materials and bio-PE to promote the manufacture of products that are more environmentally friendly. In addition, We have been certified by ISO14001 since 2008 and are also working to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes.

  In addition to being environmentally friendly, we always strive to deliver safe and reliable straws, producing straws using fully automated production lines that do not allow direct contact with operator hands, from the introduction of raw materials to packaging, with a thorough quality and hygiene management system in place. Moreover, We have been certified by FSSC 22000, the international certification standard for food safety management systems (Kumamoto Factory in 2021).

  We believe that, the presence of our products may often be overlooked in daily life, but can help make beverages more convenient and tasty, and are essential for young children, the elderly, and people with health conditions to use with peace of mind. As Japan’s leading straw manufacturer, we will continue to work hard to create products that are kind to people and the environment in order to deliver safe, reliable, convenient and high quality straws.
